KPRF invites Stalin back

The Communist Party of Russian Federation (KPRF) announced that they are planning to use Stalin’s images in the State Duma election campaign. Party Secretary for informative-analytical work and electoral technologies who also represents the Communist Party of Russian Federation (KPRF) in the lower house Sergei Obukhov, informed Kommersant about the plan to use Soviet leader Josef Stalin’s image in the upcoming State Duma elections. Obukhov explained that the Party considers Stalin’s image as a means of attracting voters additional to the traditional electorates.

Coup in Brazil

Brazil’s Senate has voted 55 to 22 to put President Dilma Rousseff on trial, which could lead to her impeachment. The marathon session lasted for almost 24 hours and was met with protests in support of Rousseff and against what many call a soft coup. Rousseff maintains that she has committed no crime and that the attempts to oust her are therefore political.

Brazilian Senate moves forward with Rousseff’s impeachment

Brazilian Senate President Renan Calheiros announced his decision to move forward President Dilma Rousseff’s impeachment process in the Senate, ignoring the decision of acting lower house speaker Waldir Maranhão, who annulled the session at the Chamber of Deputies in which the case was approved. Calheiros considered Maranhão’s act as a »joke with democracy« and demanded to proceed with reading at the Senate floor of the report from the special committee, in favor of impeachment, approved by the Chamber of Deputies.

Lower house approval of presidential impeachment annulled

The acting speaker of Chamber of Deputies, Waldir Maranhão, has annulled the April 15-17 session of the lower house that approved the impeachment proceedings against President Dilma Rousseff and saw the case move ahead to the Senate. Amazon workers in Germany and Poland in coordinated cross-border strikes

This week UNI affiliates ver.di and Solidarnosc organised cross border strikes in Poland and Germany at Amazon warehouses across both countries. After ver.di called for strikes in the Amazon warehouses in Leipzig, Bad Hersfeld, Rheinberg and Werne, the walkouts began last night with workers leaving their nightshifts.
