Havana, Cuba, June 22, 2016
The delegations of the National Government and the FARC-EP inform to the public that we have successfully reached an Agreement on a Bilateral and Final Ceasefire and Cessation of Hostilities; Decommissioning of Weapons; security guarantees and the fight against criminal organizations responsible for homicides and massacres or that target human rights defenders, social movements and political movements, including the criminal organizations that have been labelled successors of paramilitarism and their support networks, and the prosecution of criminal conducts that threaten the implementation of the agreements and the construction of peace.
The event will be headed by the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, comandante of the FARC-EP Timoleón Jiménez, and the guarantor countries. On behalf of Cuba, President Raul Castro, and on behalf of Norway, Foreign Minister Borge Brende. The President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, and of Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro, will be representing the accompanying countries.
The ceremony will be attended, as a special guest, by the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, who will be accompanied by the President of the Security Council and the President of the General Assembly.
The President of the Dominican Republic, as President of CELAC; the President of El Salvador, and the special envoys for the peace process on behalf of the United States and the European Union will also attend.
The agreements will be announced tomorrow at noon in the protocol lounge of El Laguito.
