He was brought to trial on Monday 13th of February, after a lawsuit was filed against him by a former MP of fascist Golden Dawn, with the accusation of misconduct, because he implemented the unanimous decision of the municipal council in 2015 and did not facilitate the activity of this criminal Nazi organization. In the end, the trial of Kostas Peletidis, the mayor of the 4th largest city in Greece, was postponed for the 23rd of February.

It should be noted from early in the morning, a crowd of people gathered in front of the Town hall in order to militantly support K.Peletidis, to demand an end to his prosecution and for the government and relevant state services to take initiatives in this direction.

Hundreds of trade unions and other mass organizations all over the country, many mayors and municipal councils from other regions have expressed their solidarity with the communist Mayor.

On the day of the trial, the workers of the municipality of Patras carried out a work stoppage and a held a rally in solidarity with the mayor, which ended as a militant march.

It should be noted that the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) made a representation to the Interior Minister of the SYRIZA-ANEL government and denounced the trial as being a politically motivated persecution on the part of the criminal fascist organization of Golden Dawn.
