The president of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), Diosdado Cabello and the vice president of International Affairs of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Adán Chávez, received a delegation from the Mapuche indigenous people of Chile, in support of the struggle the native peoples of America face for the recognition of their cultural identity and recovery of their territory.
The first meeting took place at the headquarters of the Institute of Higher Studies Hugo Chávez in Caracas and was attended by Juan Segundo Collonao, responsible for the direction and political representation of the Mapuches; Héctor Javier Llaitul, Arauco-Malieco leader, an organization that has headed different processes of forest recovery and Millaray Huichalaf, spiritual and healing authority.
During the meeting, the also constitutional for the state Barinas, highlighted the work of the commander Hugo Chávez in support of the indigenous victims of persecution by right-wing governments.
“Here we support you, respecting the non-interference. I, like Chávez, feel part of these communities”, he said.
For his part, from the Yellow House, the president of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), Diosdado Cabello, put the spaces of the plenipotentiary organ for the exchange of cultures, teachings and support at their service in all the struggles they face.
Cabello also explained that the Mapuches have been systematically attacked by the capitalist model and the large transnational corporations both in Chile and in Argentina, leaving their original population into minimal territorial spaces and being subjected to repression of all kinds.
“In Venezuela we have defended the recognition of all sectors historically forgotten. Someday will be the time for other countries where today the oligarchy and the bourgeoisie still govern”, said Cabello.
