“Here is born the new anti-imperialist platform of the peoples of the world, you international delegates have arrived at a very important moment for the Homeland of Bolivar, exclaimed the Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, from the Hotel Alba Caracas, during the installation of the International Assembly of Peoples.
In her speech, the Vice President said that the independence, freedom and dignity of all peoples who defend their inalienable right to be free, sovereign and independent are being played.
In this way, she also extended the greetings from President Nicolás Maduro Moros to all the movements, parties and organizations present, while recalling when Joao Pedro, delegate of the Landless Rural Workers Movement of Brazil, presented this initiative to Head of State two years ago.
“Approved, execute immediately, President Maduro said, and since then Joao Pedro has not stopped working until this project is materialized”, which is necessary to fight against the interventionist, colonizing, imperialist and counterrevolutionary strategy designed against Commander Hugo Chávez since his arrival to power and that has increased towards President Maduro.
Rodriguez said that Commander Hugo Chavez knew that the economic war would be the way the US government would implement to suffocate the Venezuelan economy and defeat the Bolivarian Revolution for its model of socialism widely recognized in international spaces, as “a model of inclusion, equality and social justice”.
“They thought that with the loss of Commander Hugo Chávez, the Bolivarian Revolution would die, but they were disappointed because the Venezuelan people rose from their pain and said, here is the Revolution, we will continue in combat (…) then imperialism knew that it had to intensify its counterrevolutionary strategy because the winds of socialism were increasing on the continent”.
She explained that when Barack Obama, in 2015, made public the decree that pointed to Venezuela as a supposed unusual and extraordinary threat to the security of the United States, what they really feared was that their colonization and looting plans in Latin America would be frustrated.
She also recalled the statements made by the Chief of the Southern Command of the Pentagon at that time, who stated that if there was a humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, the United States would intervene militarily; “Then began with a group of governments in the region and Europe to build that artifice that would justify that military intervention, that artifice is called a humanitarian crisis”, she said.
From February 24 to 27, the International Assembly of Peoples will take place in Caracas, an initiative promoted by social organizations from all continents that seek to develop a platform of solidarity, coordination and articulation of the struggles of peoples against imperialism.
