News about an assault and acts of vandalism at a People’s Congress meeting held on 27th April 2019 at the Qurtuba Hall in Khartoum have been in circulation. The Forces of the Declaration of Freedom and Change (DFC) condemn this and any other attacks regardless of causes. We believe in everyone’s right of association and expression. There is no place for exclusion or violent claiming of rights in this country our brave revolutionaries are building.
Although the representatives of the People’s Congress are guilty to a large extent of what happened to this country in the past 30 years, verbal and/or physical assault are not the means by which we create an all-inclusive homeland where the rule of law prevails. We call on all those who have a grievance against the former regime and its cronies to avail themselves of just and lawful prosecution as remedy. The rule of law is our noble alternative to the ousted Inqaz regime, an alternative the glorious December Revolution intends to achieve. The revolution espoused peaceful opposition and adopted the slogan of freedom, peace and justice as its principles from which we will not be derailed. We reject all forms of violence and counter-violence because our revolution is nonviolent, civilian, and able to reclaim our robbed rights through legal means and just accountability rather than physical force. We will save our arms for rebuilding what the Inqaz and its supporters destroyed instead.
