When there is no national unity there cannot be public security says the Leader of the JVP Comrade Anura Dissanayaka.
He said this at a seminar organized by the JVP on ‘Our mission to defeat extremism, build national unity and affirm public security’ held at Hatton – Dickoya town Hall yesterday (15th).
Speaking further Comrade Anura Dissanayaka said the three services and the police alone cannot establish national unity in the country.
National unity could be established only by the political authority said the JVP Leader and emphasized that the security of the general public could be assured only if politicians cast away petty opportunistic moves of getting the advantage of the crisis but find solutions for the present conflict situation in the country.
He said extremist politicians are behind the clashes that have surfaced in several areas in the country after the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks and added that certain groups are attempting to make the conflict situation in the country an advantage for their political agendas.
Comrade Anura Dissanayaka said prior to the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks there were several important dialogues in the country but after the attacks, those important dialogues have been submerged and communalism has been dragged to the surface which has made public security an issue.
The series of seminars organized by the JVP on the theme ‘Our mission to defeat extremism, build national unity and affirm public security’ commenced on the 10th and are addressed by several comrades including the Leader Comrade Anura Dissanayaka and the General Secretary Comrade Tilvin Silva.
