With the presence of prominent personalities from Latin America and the world, the panel ‘Challenges of the left took place in the current world scenario against the anti-imperialist offensive’, in the Habana, Cuba, as part of the activities contemplated in the Anti-Imperialist Solidarity Meeting , for Democracy and against Neoliberalism that runs until November 3.

The panel of experts was made up of the Argentine political scientist, Atilio, Borón; the Brazilian psychologist and feminist, Nalú Faria, the general secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP), David Choquehuanca; the MEP for the Communist Party of Spain, Manuel Pineda; the American activist, Gloria Larriba; and the Saharawi minister for Latin America and the Caribbean, Omar Mansur; among others, who insisted on the existence of a cultural and media offensive by the right.

In this regard, they expressed the need to unify a strategy and communicative action to combat it. It was called to use, and especially, to coordinate community radio, popular television and use mobile devices to publicize the reality that media monopolies hide.

They stressed that capitalism stimulates a discriminatory and patriarchal model, the exploitation of labor and separates women’s struggles from other struggles.

During the discussions, participants reiterated the idea that the left and the progressive sectors of the world have only one option tempered to the international context; fight to overcome the imperial and neoliberal offensive of the great transnational capital and its hegemonic center, the United States.

“Our America struggles and resists, confronts imperialism, and the most important task is to win the streets, discuss the political project with the people and go counter-offensive in this context. They ask me. Is the triumph of socialism in the United States possible? And I say yes. I trust in that my people”, said Gloria Larriba.

From the Palace of Conventions in the Habana, the more than 1,200 delegates from 95 nations will make a call to all governments and the international community, in support of the resolution that Cuba will present to the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), on November 6 and 7 denouncing the criminal and illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States government.
