The constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro informed on Wednesday, March 18, that a commission of experts of the World Health Organization (WHO) will arrive in Venezuela from Geneva in the next days.
This assistance will be provided after the Venezuelan government formally requested the WHO humanitarian technical cooperation to fight the spread of COVID-19.
The WHO’s support includes diagnosis kits and necessary supplies to assist the Venezuelan population, explained the Venezuelan president, who added that the Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez will be in charge of the coordination with the Geneva-based organization.
President Maduro complained that the criminal coercive measures imposed on Venezuela by the US empire prevent his government from purchasing the necessary medicines to fight the pandemic.
The assistance request was made during a telephone conversation between President Maduro and the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom, who celebrated the preventative, containment measures, including a nationwide collective quarantine, adopted by the Venezuelan government.
