Through a statement published on its digital portal, the Communist Party of Spain rejects the supposed “transition plan” designed by the United States government for Venezuela.
The political organization considers that the US proposal supposes a new interference in the internal affairs of another country, claiming the right to demand that the Venezuelan government renounce the power granted by the Constitution to be replaced by a “transitional government”.
Here is the complete content of the solidarity communiqué of the Communist Party of Spain:
No! to the US “transition” plan for Venezuela: enough of imperialist interference!
April 1, 2020
On March 27, the United States issued an arrest warrant against the Venezuelan President, Nicolás Maduro, and other members of his government, under the accusation of drug trafficking, without providing evidence, in a gross violation of international law. In addition, the US government put a price on the head of all the accused.
Shortly after, insisting on its aggressive foreign policy, the North American State Department published a document called Framework for the Democratic Transition in Venezuela, which supposes a new interference in the internal affairs of another country, claiming the right to demand that the Venezuelan government renounce the power granted by the Constitution to be replaced by a “transitional government”.
Once again, the United States arrogates to itself the right to dictate its will to other countries, to overthrow governments, to impose its laws and interests outside of any norm of civilized conduct, behaving like a true criminal State.
For this reason, the Communist Party of Spain:
– Condemns the threats, interference and support of the United States for the coup plans to overthrow the legitimate government of Venezuela.
– Again demands that the Trump government lift sanctions against Venezuela, which are nothing more than extortion that seriously threatens the well-being of the Venezuelan people, in a situation of global pandemic, which the Maduro government is firmly fighting.
– Demands a firm condemnation by the international community to the United States’ support for the coup plans in Venezuela.
– Reiterates its solidarity with the Venezuelan people and with the government of President Nicolás Maduro.
