The constitutional president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, ratified his willingness to repatriate compatriots who are stranded in the United States as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I ratify the willingness of my Government to place all the planes that Conviasa needs to go to look for Venezuelans in the United States who want to return”, he said during a work meeting with doctors at the Miraflores Palace.
The President urged the Charge d’Affaires for the United States External Office, James Story, to process a humanitarian license that allows Venezuelan aircraft to enter the United States.
“We have a list of more than 1,000 Venezuelans who want to come as those from Mexico and the Dominican Republic came, we went to look for them for free”, he said.
The Head of Sstate reported that returnees undergo a rapid test to detect or rule out Covid-19 before boarding the plane and if it is positive upon arrival in Venezuela, the health system guarantees treatment and free care.
The United States is currently the epicenter of contagion of the Coronavirus in the world, with 275 thousand 48 infected and a total of 7 thousand 67 deaths, as a result of the wrong actions of the Donald Trump administration to contain the virus.
