The Russian Federation would offer the cooperation of its intelligence services to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to help with the investigations corresponding to the failed maritime incursion on May 3.
This was mentioned by the Foreign Minister of the Eurasian nation, Sergey Lavrov, during a press conference held after the videoconference of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
“Our intelligence services are in contact and if, under appropriate agreements, a request for assistance is received, it will, of course, be considered”, he said.
The Venezuelan People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, reacted to the Russian government’s show of solidarity through his Twitter account @jaarreaza.
“Chancellor Lavrov shows his concern about the failed maritime incursion on May 3. He offers the cooperation of his intelligence service to support the investigation. Russia is always committed to the peace in Venezuela”, he wrote.
On May 6, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spoke about such events and, through a statement, indicated that the actions of these mercenaries deserve unconditional and decisive condemnation.
“We take with alarm the information about the attempt by a group of mercenaries to enter the territory of Venezuela to carry out terrorist acts against representatives of the legal authorities of this country and their leadership”, the official statement highlights.
