Venezuela has registered 51 new COVID-19 cases in the last 42 hours for a total of 1,510 cases, explained Vice-president Delcy Rodríguez in a briefing at the Miraflores Presidential Palace.
Rodríguez highlighted that 21 out of the total cases are community transmissions, as well as 30 imported cases and international contacts, registered on the border with Brazil and Colombia.
“We registered these cases thanks to massive, personalized testing,” said the Venezuelan vice-president, who added that rapid tests have been done thanks to the hard work of healthcare staff and security agencies on bordering states.
Likewise, she informed that Venezuela leads the region with the highest number of tests done with 975,825 tests, representing 32,528 tests por 1 million population.
Worldwide, more than 6 million COVID-19 cases and 373,100 deaths have been recorded, being the United States the world’s epicenter with more than 1,834,000 cases and 106,132 deaths, followed by Brazil with 506,708 cases and 29,101 deaths.
