President Nicolás Maduro informed Tuesday afternoon that one new COVID-19 case in Aragua State was detected in the last 24 hours for a total of 423 cases.
At the Miraflores Presidential Palace, in Caracas he stressed that this new case was registered after a patient broke quarantine; therefore, he urged Venezuelans to maintain their discipline in order to prevent the propagation of COVID-19.
“It is not time to get loose. It is time for greater perseverance,” he stressed and pointed out that so far 220 patients have recovered, representing 52% of all registered cases since March 13.
The Venezuela president said that Venezuela is becoming stronger as the country leading testing in Latin America and the Caribbean with 525,902 tests, representing 17,530 tests per 1 million population.
President Nicolás Maduro thanked his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping for the delivery of a new shipment with 40,000 test kits and medical supplies (surgical gloves, protective suits and goggles, and facemasks) for testing of novel coronavirus in the South American country.
He highlighted that Venezuelan received 60,480 additional test kits, as well as other supplies to strengthen specialized healthcare mechanisms for Venezuelans.
Likewise, he said that the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China sent a special donation to the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) as part of the international technical assistance protocol.
