In the last 24 hours, Venezuela registered 25 new COVID-19 cases, 6 out of which are due to community transmission and 19 are imported cases, informed Saturday, June 13, President Nicolás Maduro at a meeting with the Presidential Commission for the Prevention and Control of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The new cases due to community transmission are located in the Capital District (2), and the states of Amazonas (1), Falcón (1), Mérida (1), and Zulia (1).
Regarding new imported cases, the Venezuelan president explained that 16 come from Colombia, 1 from Ecuador, and 2 cases are due to international contacts.
He informed that one death was registered today in Trujillo State for a total of 24 deaths due to coronavirus nationwide.
President Nicolás Maduro pointed out that there is a situation of chaos overseas in the face of the propagation of COVID-19 due to lack of healthcare.
He informed that 58,200 Venezuelans have returned, and 2,300 out of them are positive for coronavirus.
In this regard, if Venezuela didn’t have this reverse migration amid the pandemic, today it would only have 604 cases due to local transmission.
President Nicolás Maduro complained that the international media silences this reality and only publishes the total number of cases in the country, without mentioning that 80% of them are migrants returning to Venezuela and fleeing xenophobia, racisms and exclusion in neighboring countries such as Colombia, and other such as Ecuador, Chile and Peru.
