This Friday, the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Jorge Arreaza, rejected an interference statement signed by the United States and its satellite governments in the world, which encourages a boycott of the advances and agreements emanating from the political dialogue already existing in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and the call for the next parliamentary elections.
“In his electoral despair, Mike Pompeo, orders a group of satellite governments to sign an extravagant and absurd interventionist communiqué written by Elliott Abrams, with the intention of sabotaging the parliamentary elections in Venezuela. They do not believe in democracy. Pretenders!” the Venezuelan minister wrote on his Twitter account @jaarreaza.
The declaration calls “all Venezuelans, of all ideological tendencies, to participate urgently in a process formed and promoted to establish a transitional government” in the Caribbean nation, ignoring the will of more than 6 million Venezuelans who in In May 2018, re-elected Nicolás Maduro as President of the Republic.
“Elections to the National Assembly do not present a political solution itself and, instead, can further polarize an already divided society” reads the biased statement.
The tendentious document also suggests to the Venezuelan people and state officials “to end the status quo” so that the governments of these countries -severely affected by COVID-19- can continue their alleged efforts to help Venezuelans face the pandemic.
