«Thank you very much president @NicolasMaduro. With the wisdom and confidence of the people, we have recovered democracy and hope. Victory belongs to each and every Bolivian”, with these words the newly elected president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, thanked the solidarity of the Venezuelan Head of State and Government, Nicolás Maduro.
Earlier, the Venezuelan President congratulated Arce for his resounding victory in the presidential elections that were held in the Andean nation.
“Great victory! The united and conscious Bolivian people defeated with votes the coup given to our brother Evo. Congratulations to elected President Luis Arce, Vice-president David Choquehuanca and our South Indian Chief @evoespueblo. Jallalla Bolivia!”, He declared through his official account on the social network Twitter @NicolasMaduro.
The representative of the Movement to Socialism (MAS) won in the first round with 52.4% of the votes, well above the 31.5% of his immediate rival, Carlos Mesa.
Arce’s victory marks the return to power of the MAS and has occurred 363 days after the coup in Bolivia, orchestrated by the opposition and supported by the United States, an event after which Morales resigned from the Presidency to avoid further acts of violence in his country.
