The World Federation of Trade Unions, gathering in its ranks 105 million workers from around the world, demands an end to the war between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh, which is causing deaths and dramatic consequences to the lives of workers in the region.

The conflicts are linked to imperialist antagonisms and to the efforts of imperialist powers to redefine the control of natural resources and increase their influence in the wider Caucasus region.

The existence of many different ethnicities is systematically exploited to cultivate nationalism, especially in conditions of economic and social impasses, when it is convenient the anger of peoples to be channeled into conflicts between them.

The world class-oriented trade union movement calls on the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan, who coexisted peacefully within the Soviet Union, to support in any way possible the end of hostilities and to struggle for peace in the region.

To strengthen their struggle for their own interests, against poverty, unemployment, exploitation, for better living conditions for themselves and their families. No to imperialist wars for foreign interests that cause even more poverty, deaths and refugeeism.
