The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing 105 million workers all over the globe, expresses its internationalist solidarity to the workers of Taiz and the rest of Yemen. The workers in Taiz have been protesting against corruption and the collapse of the local currency, which increased the hunger and famine among workers and their families.
This situation is added to non-payment of the workers’ owed salaries, to violations against their working rights and all consequences of the imperialist intervention and conflicts that have been raging in the country for more than five years now.
The WFTU reiterates its call to responsible parties and International Organizations to take action for support and protection measures of workers and the people of Yemen. We stand by the side of the Yemeni workers and call upon them to continue and strengthen their struggles for the improvement of their life and working conditions and for peace.
