More than 100 others were injured in the fire, which started at the Ibn Khatib hospital on Saturday night after an oxygen tank exploded. The hospital had no fire protection system and false ceilings allowed the flames to spread to flammable materials. The World Federation of Trade Unions extends its condolences to the families of the victims. This tragic incident once more reveals the importance of modern public hospitals with all the necessary medical staff and equipment so as to cover with safety the needs of workers and their families at all times.
