SACP in the Western Cape welcomes the deployment of about 200 police officers

9 April 2021 The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Western Cape welcomes the deployment of about 200 police officers in the Western Cape to help root out crime such as gangsterism and extortion-related crimes. Whilst we welcome the prioritisation of townships such as Kraaifontein, Nyanga and Philippi, attention must also be given to Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, Mfuleni, Mitchel’s Plain, and Manenberg too, before the crisis of crime further escalates as people who provide basic services and those involved in sports activities are to get robbed and shot at by these heartless criminals. The SACP takes this deployment as an important step to root out the rampant extortion and gangsterism in our communities. However, for this initiative to be effective, it will require an integrated policing that will include the involvement of the metro police and all other law enforcement agencies in the province.
