Today’s meeting took place in a warm and sincere spirit on the occasion of the departure of Mr. Marwan Toubassi. The WFTU delegation, consisting of its General Secretary George Mavrikos and Maria Barouti, offered a souvenir to the outgoing Ambassador. The WFTU General Secretary asked Mr. Toubassi to convey to the Palestinian People and the Palestinian leadership that the WFTU will continue to stand firmly by the side of the Palestinians until the final victory. Since its foundation in 1945 until today, the WFTU was and continues to be with the Palestinians. In contrast to the leadership of the ITUC that was and is with the imperialists and Histadrut. The WFTU delegation informed the Ambassador that the big, ongoing Solidarity and Relief Campaign is very successful and that the first containers will soon be loaded on ships. Also on November 29, the WFTU organizes an International Symposium of Solidarity with the heroic struggle of the Palestinian People, while with its recent official memorandum to the UN and intervention in the European Parliament, the WFTU once again demands the recognition of the independent Palestinian State. The WFTU, an internationalist, anti-imperialist, militant organization, operating in every corner of the globe, and its 105 million members in 133 countries, will always be by the side of the Palestinians.
