The WFTU condemns the decision of Israel to classify six Palestinian human rights organizations as “terrorist organizations”

The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing more than 105 million workers in 133 countries on the five continents, strongly condemns the recent decision of the Israeli government to classify six Palestinian human rights and civil society organizations as “terrorist organizations”, namely: Al-Haq, Addameer Foundation for Human Rights, Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees, Defense for Children International/Palestine Branch, Union of Agricultural Work Committees and Bisan Research Center. These organizations, illegitimately classified by Israel as “terrorists”, established more than 30 years ago, are operating in a peaceful and transparent manner and in accordance with the law. The Israeli decision was taken without any appropriate justification or evidence. This decision comes in the context of the continuation of the Israeli occupation and current plans for the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. The world class-oriented trade union movement stands by the side of the Palestinian workers and People. We reiterate our permanent solidarity with  their struggle for freedom, return and recognition of their independent Palestinian State on the basis of 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
