The WFTU International Symposium in Solidarity with Palestine was successfully held with the participation of 100 trade unionists from 40 countries from all over the globe, in the framework of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian struggle on November 29th. The WFTU President, Mzwandile Michael Makwayiba, from NEHAWU, South Africa, opened the Symposium, highlighting the commitment of the WFTU to continue its actions for the recognition of the independent Palestinian State on the basis of 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The WFTU affiliates and friends participating in the virtual event reiterated their firm solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters and decided to undertake concrete initiatives in order to put forward the Palestinian Peoples’ demands. The WFTU through its Campaigns, interventions and initiatives will always stand by the side of Palestinian workers, with determination and internationalism, until their final victory. We thank all the participants and we assure them that as it did up to now, the WFTU will stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with the Palestinians until the recognition of the independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital. The WFTU in all international fora will underline the hypocrisy of International Organizations that take decisions in words and on paper which then leave in the drawers; it will sharply criticize in public yellow trade union leaderships that have in their ranks the well-known HISTADRUT and objectively support the strategy of the Israeli governments. The Palestinians know the truth. And the truth proves that since 1947 until today only the WFTU, our affiliates and friends, are and will be in practice by their side in this heroic and just struggle. Long live the Palestinian Struggle!
