16 December 2021 The South African Communist Party (SACP) has noted the judgment by the High Court of South Africa, North Gauteng Division, reviewing the decision made by Arthur Fraser, the National Commissioner of Correctional Services, to place former President Jacob Zuma on medical parole. The North Gauteng High Court delivered the judgment on Wednesday 15 December 2021, declaring the decision made by Fraser on 5 September 2021 unlawful and setting it aside. The SACP reaffirms its commitment to the supremacy of our hard-won constitution and rule of law, including the principle that all shall be equal before the law, that no person shall be above the law. It is crucial for all South Africans to rally behind the supremacy of the constitution. This includes remaining calm, promoting peace and stability, respecting the constitutional rights of the respondents who announced that they will file applications for leave to appeal against the judgment, and respecting the entire due process of the law to take its course up to the end.
