The World Federation of Trade Unions, the militant voice of 105 million workers from 130 countries of the globe, support the fair struggle of thousand of fisheries workers from 22 provinces of Thailand who protested outside the agriculture ministry a few days ago. The protesters demand substantial support of the fishermen and fisherwomen who are seriously affected due to related regulations enacted since 2015 that destroying thousand legal and fishing people.

Working people form new rail and metro union in Bangkok

Bangkok has seen a historic moment today as a new workers’ union has been launched. Working people on the city’s metro and rail system have come together to form the Metro and Rail Transport Workers’ Union (MRTU) and held their first general meeting at the offices of the State Railway Workers’ Union of Thailand (SRUT). The MRTU represents workers in Siemens Mobility Company Thailand, and has the backing of the workers’ union at Siemens in Germany.

The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing 92 million workers in the 5 continents, condemns the increasing phenomenon of imprisonments, based on the expression of people’s opinion in Thailand. The incidents of attacks against freedom of speech is an overt violation of the rights of the people of Thailand. Those practices mainly undermine the action of the working class and aim to the subjugation and manipulation of the popular strata, minimizing the possibility of the class oriented struggles.
