Demonstrators Rally in Solidarity with Army Refuser outside Prison

Activists from the Mesarvot Refusers Network and Yesh Gvul held a protest vigil last Saturday, October 30, near Military Prison 6 in Atlit, south of Haifa, in solidarity with Hallel Rabin. Rabin, 19, a conscientious objector, was sentenced on October 19, to her third term of imprisonment for her refusal to be conscripted into the Israeli army because of its policies toward the Palestinians. She began serving her current 25-day term behind bars on October 21.

Tens of thousands of citizens of Israel protested across the country on Saturday, October 31, in the latest weekly demonstrations against far-right Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, because of the corruption charges for which he is being tried and his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. The weekly demonstrations have been ongoing for more than four months. This week the demonstrators also commemorated the 25th anniversary of the murder of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin by a right-wing activist.

Hadash Condemns the Shameful US-Brokered Israel-Sudan Accord

US President Donald Trump announced on Friday, October 23, that Sudan has agreed to make peace with Israel, making it the third Arab state to normalize ties as part of US imperialism-brokered deals since August. During a call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Sudan Sovereign Council president General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Sudanese Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok, Trump brought reporters into the Oval Office and announced, “The State of Israel and the Republic of Sudan have agreed to make peace.”

Violence against Women Protests across Israel following 2 Murders

Thousands condemned violence against women nationwide on Wednesday evening, October 22, following the last Monday’s murders of two women, allegedly by their spouses. Najah Mansour, 35, a mother of four, was found dead in her apartment in Kiryat Haim, north of Haifa, with signs of violence on her body. Shortly afterward her companion was found running through the streets with a knife. Two hours later in Beersheba, police found the body of 67-year-old Irina Graribnov in her apartment, after her husband allegedly beat her to death with a hammer.

Thousands Attack Far-Right Gov’t in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa

Thousands demonstrated throughout the country on Thursday evening, October 22, against the far-right government of criminally indicted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a series of protests directed at the social and economic crisis, police brutality and high-level corruption. Large protests were held in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa, while smaller rallies were held at hundreds of other locations. In Holon, far-right counter-protesters faced off with anti-government activists and heckled a member of the Knesset from the opposition.
